# YOLO profit adjustment and fees

> How YOLO calculates profit: the 0.2 bp deadband, the profit adjustment formula, the 2% fee on adjusted profit, worked examples, and every cost of a trade.

This page explains how a winning YOLO trade is paid and what a YOLO trade costs. YOLO is the Jupiter Labs product for 500x–1,000x leverage: see the [YOLO overview](/user-docs/labs/yolo).

## Why is my YOLO profit lower than the price move?

A winning YOLO trade does not pay the full linear profit of the price move. Three rules apply:

1. A move in your favor of 0.2 basis points (0.002%) or less pays nothing.
2. Beyond that, the profit goes through a profit adjustment: it is calculated on the part of the move above 0.2 basis points, then reduced. The reduction is strongest on small moves, and the adjusted profit never exceeds 90% of the linear profit.
3. A 2% fee is taken from the adjusted profit.

The PnL the app shows on an open YOLO position is an estimate that already includes the adjustment and the fee. Losing trades are not adjusted: a loss is the position size times the price move against you, up to the position's collateral (see [the bust price](/user-docs/labs/yolo/trading#what-is-the-bust-price-on-yolo)).

## What is the YOLO profit formula?

Let m be the price move in your favor, as a fraction of the entry price: m = |exit price − entry price| ÷ entry price.

* If m is 0.002% or less, the profit is 0.
* Otherwise, with d = m − 0.002% and c = 1,157,299 ÷ 6,109,485,000 (about 0.0189%):
  * adjusted profit = 0.9 × position size × d² ÷ (d + c)
  * fee = 2% of the adjusted profit
  * profit you receive = adjusted profit − fee

The same formula applies to SOL, BTC and ETH, at every leverage. It is part of the YOLO program, not a setting. The program rounds profits down and losses up, to the nearest 0.000001 JupUSD.

## How much does a winning YOLO trade pay?

Examples with 10 JupUSD at 1,000x leverage, a \$10,000 position:

| Price move in your favor | Linear profit | Profit you receive | Share of the linear profit |
| - | - | - | - |
| 0.002% | \$0.20 | \$0.00 | 0% |
| 0.01% | \$1.00 | \$0.21 | 21% |
| 0.05% | \$5.00 | \$3.04 | 61% |
| 0.1% | \$10.00 | \$7.24 | 72% |
| 0.2% | \$20.00 | \$15.94 | 80% |
| 1% | \$100.00 | \$86.38 | 86% |

The amounts scale with position size: on a \$2,500 position, divide them by four. The share of the linear profit you receive rises with the size of the move and approaches 88.2% on very large moves (90% after the adjustment, minus the 2% fee).

<Note>
  Gains and losses are not symmetric on YOLO. At 1,000x leverage, a 0.1% move against you liquidates the position and costs the full 10 JupUSD, while the same move in your favor pays about \$7.24.
</Note>

## What fees does YOLO charge?

| Cost | When | Amount |
| - | - | - |
| Opening fee | When you open | None |
| Borrow, funding or holding fee | While the position is open | None |
| Trading fee on a losing trade or a liquidation | At close or liquidation | None |
| Profit adjustment and win fee | When you close a winning trade | Adjustment as above, then 2% of the adjusted profit |
| Swap | When you pay with a token other than JupUSD | Swap at the quoted rate, with a 0.5% slippage tolerance |
| Claim account rent | When a close sends your profit to the payout queue | A small amount of SOL, refunded when the profit is paid |
| Network fees | On every transaction you sign, including a trade that fails | Solana network fee |

For the payout queue and the claim account, see [YOLO payouts and the House](/user-docs/labs/yolo/payouts).
