This page explains how a winning YOLO trade is paid and what a YOLO trade costs. YOLO is the jup.ag product for 500x–1,000x leverage: see the YOLO overview.

Why is my YOLO profit lower than the price move?

A winning YOLO trade does not pay the full linear profit of the price move. Five rules apply, in this order:
1

Deadband

A move in your favor of 0.2 basis points (0.002%) or less pays nothing.
2

Profit adjustment

Beyond that, the profit is calculated on the part of the move above 0.2 basis points, then reduced. The reduction is strongest on small moves, and the adjusted profit never exceeds 90% of the linear profit.
3

Profit cap

The adjusted profit is capped at 45 times the position’s collateral. See Is there a maximum profit on YOLO?
4

Win fee

A win fee of 2% is taken from the adjusted profit.
5

Close fee

Every close, winning or losing, pays a close fee of 0.2 basis points (0.002%) of the position size, taken from your collateral.
The PnL the app shows on an open YOLO position is an estimate. Losing trades are not adjusted: a loss is the position size times the price move against you, plus the close fee, up to the position’s collateral (see the bust price).

What is the YOLO profit formula?

Let m be the price move in your favor, as a fraction of the entry price. The program computes the profit you receive as follows:
The same formula applies to every YOLO market, at every leverage, and in both modes: in Double or Nothing, the take-profit price is the price at which this formula returns twice the collateral. The program rounds profits and fees down and losses up, to the nearest 0.000001 JupUSD.
The curve is part of the YOLO program. The win fee, the close fee, the profit cap and the 24-hour limit are settings the YOLO team can change: the values in the app’s House rules prevail.

Is there a maximum profit on YOLO?

Yes. The adjusted profit of a YOLO position is capped at 45 times its collateral (4,500%), before the 2% win fee. With 10 JupUSD of collateral, the adjusted profit can reach $450: you receive $441 after the win fee, and the close fee also comes out of your collateral. The cap amount depends only on your collateral. The move needed to reach it depends on the leverage: with 10 JupUSD of collateral, about 5.0% in your favor at 1,000x and about 10.0% at 500x. Beyond the cap, a larger move adds nothing, so YOLO closes the position automatically as soon as its adjusted profit reaches the cap. See When does YOLO close a position automatically?

How much does a winning YOLO trade pay?

Examples with 10 JupUSD at 1,000x leverage, a $10,000 position, whose close fee is $0.20: Below the profit cap, the amounts scale with position size: on a $2,500 position, divide them by four. The share of the linear profit you keep rises with the size of the move, up to about 88% at the cap (90% after the adjustment, minus the 2% win fee), and the position then closes automatically.
Gains and losses are not symmetric on YOLO. At 1,000x leverage, a 0.1% move against you liquidates the position and costs the full 10 JupUSD, while the same move in your favor adds about $6.56.

What fees does YOLO charge?

These are launch values: the values in the app’s House rules prevail. For the payout queue and the claim account, see YOLO payouts and the House.
